Funding & Governance
BevCam operates as a nonprofit organization serving the Beverly community. Our funding and governance structure supports public access, civic transparency, and long-term community media services.
This page outlines how BevCam is supported, how oversight works, and how we remain accountable to the community we serve.
How BevCam Is Funded
BevCam’s work is supported through a mix of public and community-based funding. This includes municipal support tied to cable access, along with grants, donations, and other program-related revenue. I would like to re-write this to emphasize that the majority of BevCam’s funding comes via franchise funds in accordance with legislation through a contract with the city. What is currently written makes it sound like we are a line item in the city budget, which we are not.
These funding sources allow BevCam to maintain facilities, staff, equipment, and broadcast infrastructure. They also support educational programs, public meeting coverage, and access for community members who want to create media.
Funding is directed toward sustaining services, maintaining public access channels, and ensuring that local content remains available to the community.
We’re A Community Nonprofit
BevCam operates as a nonprofit organization with a public service mission. The organization exists to provide access to media tools, platforms, and training for residents, schools, nonprofits, and local government.
As a nonprofit, BevCam focuses on service rather than profit. Decisions are guided by community needs, public access principles, and long-term sustainability.
Governance and Oversight
BevCam's Board follows nonprofit governance practices to ensure responsible operation and oversight. Organizational policies guide financial management, programming standards, and public accountability.
Governance provides structure and continuity. It helps ensure that resources are managed carefully and that the organization remains aligned with its mission.
Accountability to the Community
BevCam’s work is public by nature. Government meetings are recorded and shared. Programs are aired locally and made available for on-demand viewing. Community members can see how the organization operates through the content it produces and supports.
Accountability is also reflected in how BevCam engages with residents, partners, and local institutions. The goal is clarity, access, and responsible stewardship of public resource
