What We Do
BevCam supports community media in Beverly by giving people access to the tools, training, and platforms needed to create and share their own content.
Some people come to BevCam to watch. Others come to learn. Many come with an idea and a lot of questions. Our role is to meet people where they are and help them turn interest into action.
Community Media Channels and Distribution
BevCam operates PEG programming for Beverly. That includes Public, Education, Government, and Sports channels on cable.
Programming is produced locally and distributed through cable and online platforms. Content is also available in HD where supported, so community programming looks and sounds the way it should.
Public Access Programming
Public access programming is one of BevCam’s core services. These programs are created by Beverly residents and local community members.
BevCam provides the channel space for this work, along with support that helps people get a project finished and ready to share. Staff can help producers understand basic production standards and the steps required to air a program.
Public access includes both ongoing series and one-time projects. The format depends on the creator and the idea.
Educational and Youth Media
BevCam partners with schools and educators to support youth media learning in Beverly. The focus is on doing the work, not talking about it.
Youth programming includes studio-based work and guided projects that teach core production skills. Students learn how to plan a project, run equipment safely, and complete a finished piece that’s ready to share.
Students learn, hands on, video and audio production and more. Students get practical experience by learning with the tools and workflows used in real media production.
Government and Civic Coverage
BevCam records and broadcasts local government meetings. Residents can watch and stay informed about what’s happening in the city.
Meetings are available live. They’re also available after the fact. This gives people access to public information even when they can’t attend in person.
This coverage supports transparency in local government and keeps civic information easy to find.
Local Sports and School Coverage
BevCam provides coverage of Beverly High School athletics and school-related events connected to student life.
Games and related programming are recorded and shared through BevCam’s cable channels and the BevCam Sports Network and BevCam Education Channels on YouTube. This allows families, students, and community members to follow school sports live or watch later.
Community Event Coverage
BevCam provides media coverage for community events across Beverly. This includes performances, festivals, graduations, public celebrations, and other events that bring people together.
Coverage is requested by community members, organizations, schools, and nonprofits. BevCam works with organizers to determine what coverage is needed and how the finished media will be shared.
Event coverage may include live recording, edited programs, or distribution through BevCam’s cable channels and online platforms. The goal is to document community life and make it accessible to a wider audience.
Requests for event coverage are handled through a dedicated request process. This helps BevCam plan coverage, schedule staff, and support events that align with its mission.
Community Storytelling and Event Coverage
Community storytelling covers local people, local organizations, and everyday life in Beverly. The focus is on projects that come from the community and reflect what’s happening here.
This work may include nonprofit programs, neighborhood initiatives, and cultural activities. It also includes stories that don’t often get attention elsewhere.
Workshops, Training, and Community Events
BevCam offers workshops, training sessions, and hosted events focused on media creation and community participation.
Programming includes introductory sessions, skill-focused classes, orientations for new members, and special events tied to creative work. Workshops and trainings are available to both members and non-members. Topics include podcasting, video editing, camera use, photography, animation, and content creation.
Workshops are offered for kids and adults. Sessions support beginners and also cover specific skills and tools.
BevCam also hosts community events connected to its mission. These include member meetings, creative showcases, photo walks, art-based gatherings, and public programs that invite participation rather than observation.
All workshops and events are led or supported by BevCam staff. The focus is practical use, clear instruction, and helping people apply what they learn in real projects.
Studios and Equipment Access
Access to tools changes what’s possible.
Members can use BevCam’s studios and equipment to work on projects that may be difficult to create at home. Available resources include cameras, audio gear, and editing tools.
Staff support is part of the experience and is available throughout the process.
Channels and Online Distribution
Finished projects need a place to be seen.
Programs air on BevCam’s cable channels and are also available online for on-demand viewing. This combination of broadcast and digital distribution helps local content reach different audiences.
The goal is to make community media easy to find and easy to watch.
Creative Support and Guidance
Creative support runs through all of BevCam’s work.
Staff work directly with community members during planning, production, and editing. Projects don’t always follow a straight path, and support is available when questions or challenges come up.
This approach helps people complete projects and build the skills to start the next one.
